Franklin Blazer was born on June 2, 1836 to John Blazer and Mary Ann Nelson in Champaign County, Ohio. He was the oldest child of five. He married Malissa Goul before 1859. She had one son, James Oakland "Okie" Goul, prior to the marriage. The couple had 5 children - John F., Martha Ann, (Philip) Wesley, Katie Jane, and Rachel. Franklin died on August 26, 1869 in Madison County, Indiana and was buried in Fall Cemetery, Pendleton Twp, Madison County, Indiana.
